UFC 231 The Thrill and the Agony Preview. The Main and Co-Main Events

The UFC has put up another ‘The Thrill and The Agony’ video to Fight Pass and gave us a sneak peek into the meat and potatoes of it. It follows the UFC 231 main event of Max Holloway vs Brian Ortega and Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event.

The video, of course, stays true to its name. The range of emotions were especially high because two titles were on the line. After weeks of preparation, there were winners and there were losers, but all the fighters emptied the tank after giving everything they had.

You never want to see the losing side, especially when it is in regards to someone that is as good of a dude as Ortega. Seeing his family in tears is actually gut-wrenching. On the flip side of the coin, seeing Max Holloway’s family experiencing euphoria is just too damn cool.

‘The Thrill and The Agony’ is the perfect title.

Mini Blessed done stole the show from his pop AGAIN

Isn’t it just like a kid to steal the damn show? Max Holloway is the champ and the hardest worker in the room, but Mini Blessed keeps showing up and showing out. Once again, Holloway’s son took to the stage and showed off his dance moves while his pop could only look on and smile.

While the younger of the Holloway boys is certainly no stranger to entertaining, this time he’s doing it on the UFC stage when the spotlight is on dad.

Tomorrow night, Mini Blessed will have to put his sick moves on hold while dad tries to defend his title against Brian Ortega. It remains to be seen whether or not it’s a happy or sad dance.

For now, enjoy the gyration.

Mini Blessed is more fearless than his champion father

Max Holloway is fearless inside of the cage. This is a guy who has stood directly in front of every opponent that he’s faced and threw the F down. That attitude has brought him to square off against some of the greatest featherweights known to man. However, his son, Mini Blessed is more of a beast than Max can even dream of being.

Okay, so mayybe Holloway’s son isn’t one of the world’s greatest fighters, but he sure as hell shows that there is nothing that he’s afraid of. There’s a saying, “Dance like nobody is watching”.

Mini Max dances like everyone is watching and he wants everyone to see. In fact, he had everyone dying of laughter who were surrounding them. Take a look:

Michael Bisping spotted that Max Holloway seemed off during interview

Michael Bisping

Michael Bisping actually asked Max if he was ok during an interview, Max wasn’t.

We’re all still shaken over the news that Max Holloway has had to drop out of a fight for the third consecutive time. He was showing concussion symptoms and obviously, it’s not safe to fight like that.  We wish Max the absolute best sorting this out and a speedy recovery. The news is sad for Brian Ortega, but he’s taken in stride saying when the time is right, they’ll handle business. Michael Bisping noticed Max seemed off during an interview and broached the subject with him.

People close to the situation have said Max has seemed off all week, and when he was a guest of UFC Tonight it was pretty well on display. In fact, Michael Bisping commented on it and asked Max if he was ok. Here’s the video, courtesy of Luke Thomas of MMA Fighting.

Dana White has said he doesn’t have a clear idea of what exactly is wrong with Max, but indicated he would not be fighting “anytime soon.”

UFC 226 Embedded Ep. 1 -Living a life close to normal

UFC 226 Embedded

The fighters are getting ready to travel to Las Vegas for UFC 226

It’s that time again, the UFC has begun producing their Embedded series for UFC 226. In this episode we see the fighters living their lives as normally as possible heading into massive fights. Brian Ortega is surfing, DC is on the soccer field, Stipe is putting together a playpen and Max is dealing with the Las Vegas heat. You know, just a day in the life type stuff.

Stipe might just be low-key the funniest guy in the UFC. Little comments like “Milk was a bad choice”, from Anchorman was solid. Anyone who quotes Will Ferrall is alright by me. His wife asking him, “Why can’t you be normal?” after he kicks the box the playpen came in was also pretty good. His response, “Ok, I love you. Teamwork makes the dream work.”  He’s simply hilarious without being all upfront about it.

Brian Ortega seems like a really interesting guy as well, and can absolutely belt a verse of La Bamba with the best of them. I like Brian and I feel like he has a unique perspective and style about MMA and his life. It’s pretty refreshing.

On Episode 1 of UFC 226 Embedded, featherweight champion Max Holloway adjusts to the heat of Las Vegas, while 205-pound champion Daniel Cormier adjusts to working out at his new size. Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic risks life and limb to assemble his soon-to-be-born daughter’s playpen.

Featherweight title challenger Brian Ortega juggles training, surfing, music, and karma. Holloway puts in time at the UFC Performance Institute, and Cormier spends time on the soccer field.

UFC 226 Embedded is an all-access, behind-the-scenes video blog leading up to the two world title fights on Saturday, July on Pay-Per-View.

From one family man to another, Holloway wished the best for McGregor

After they were rivals in the cage, it’s all water under the bridge in regards to Max Holloway’s feelings towards Conor McGregor. Holloway has moved on from the in-cage rivalry and online smack talk and wished Conor McGregor the best for him and his family.

Holloway realizes that ‘people make mistakes’ and he feels that Conor McGregor made a mistake. He hopes he can work it all out and get back to doing what he does; Punching people in the face for money.

Max is a family man and has respect for anyone else who is a family man. I like this mature and self-aware Holloway. He is an excellent representative of what a champion should be. Both inside and outside of the cage.

It is what it is.

Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway squares off with Jon ‘Tighty Whities’ Stewart

Max Holloway and Paige VanZant repped the UFC during a recent USO tour to visit the troops. They joined other athletes and celebrities to bring smiles to our deployed troops’ faces. Being that one of the celebrities they were with was none other than Jon Stewart, smiles on faces were a no-brainer. Especially when Max squared off against his tighty whities counterpart, Stewart.

Fighters usually keep their composure when doing a stare-down, but when it’s against an old white guy who pulls his skivvies WAY over his belt line; Even the featherweight champion of the world can break.

Stewart added an especially nice touch and ensured Holloway would back down by rubbing his nipples after. As you can see in the video, the troops LOVED it! As my father once told me, “Nipple rubs always win over a crowd”.

UFC 226 gets a couple of huge fights added to it

UFC 226

The event already featured Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier UFC 226 seems to be the gift that keeps on giving. I was already pretty excited for the July 7th card, and now, forget about it.
