UFC Hamburg saw itself ten decisions and felt like the longest fight card of all time. After the Fight Pass prelims, the card had rattled off nine straight decisions going into the main event. Given Anthony Smith and Shogun Rua’s track record, there was no way that the fight would go to ten straight. Right?
Thankfully, they didn’t disappoint and they broke the streak. Shogun put the pressure on Smith and Smith countered with accurate hammers to Shogun’s head. After wobbling Shogun, Smith swarmed. Shogun was out on his feet before the referee was able to stop the fight.
Since moving up to light heavyweight, Smith has now KO’d two former UFC light heavyweight champions; Rashad Evans and now, Shogun.
