Two former UFC fighters who transitioned from MMA to pro wrestling squared off in a wrestling ring. ‘The king of Bros’ Matt Riddle took on ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor at Black Label Pro Wrestling, in Crown Pointe, Indiana.
Riddle made the jump to wrestling much earlier than Lawlor did. Riddle was actually on a four-fight winning streak in the UFC when he was released. After popping for marijuana twice in one year he was let go from the promotion. He began his pro wrestling career shortly thereafter. Riddle is now actually one of the top guys on the independent circuit.
Tom Lawlor had a similar scenario happen to him while in the UFC. Lawlor was suspended from competition for two years due to a failed drug test by USADA. So, Lawlor decided to make the move to the squared circle as well.
Last week, the guys squared off for the first time in their careers. I have to say, they look pretty damn good!
