At this point we have heard from just about everyone as it pertains to the UFC 207 main event between bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey. Nunes handed Rousey the second loss of her career in successfully defending her title for the first time. Veteran MMA referee Herb Dean had the best seat in the house for the fight as he was front and center calling the action.
Recently, Michael Rapaport appeared on an episode of UNDISPUTED on FS1 and gave his thoughts on the fight. Among other things he mentioned that he felt Dean stopped the fight too soon.
TMZ caught up with Herb to get his response to that claim by the actor. While Dean didn’t really care to respond, citing that Rapaport doesn’t really know what he’s talking about, he did give some great insight into the fight and what led him to stopping the bout :48 seconds into the fight.
A referee’s knowledge of fighters is often overlooked by the public. In the interview below Herb not only shows that they know the rules of the octagon, but that they are very well educated on the fighters within it. Check out the video below for more:
