Jon Jones given reduced USADA suspension, eligible to return Oct 28th

Jon Jones

Jon Jones reportedly provided evidence on other cheaters to reduce his sentence. Well, the old adage, “snitches get stitches” isn’t necessarily true. Sometimes they get radically reduced suspensions and the ability to headline a card at MSG. Jon Jones was dealt a 15-month sentence, retroactive to July 28th, 2017. Thus making him eligible to return on … Read moreJon Jones given reduced USADA suspension, eligible to return Oct 28th

Avoid Times Square in New York on Thursday if you have small children

Avoid-Times-Square-New-York-Thursday-children

While the UFC are promoting their first press conference between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor; We are out here telling you to keep young children’s virgin ears away from Times Square in New York. While no fans are allowed in the building for the Khabib and Conor presser, they will be able to watch it outside in Times Square.

Expect insults and profanity to be echoing through the air as Conor McGregor will finally have a microphone in his hand. These two going at it and taking verbal jabs at one another should be wildly entertaining. However, it will not be for the faint of heart.

Make sure to keep the elderly and children free from earshot of the stream. Mark my words; It is going to be a classless plethora of Conor McGregor insults towards Khabib and Khabib calmly laughing at him.

Check out the animated Octo: Disputed History of the Octagon video

Octo

Octo is a great little video about the history of the UFC and the Octagon.

Octo: The Disputed History of the Octagon is a great animated short film that speaks to the origins of the Octagon and how it came to be the proving ground for MMA with the UFC. So how was the Octagon first conceived? There are various opinions as to who was the brainchild behind the famous cage. This video works to get to the bottom of it. Do we know who created it? Not really.

Part of the series of short films as part of the UFC’s 25th anniversary, I found this to be an informative and really cool video. It’s about ten minutes in length and it was really well done.  Whether it was John Millius (Movie-Director), Greg Harrison (Designer from Pee Wee’s Playhouse), Jason Cusson (Contractor who built it), or someone else altogether, this is a compelling story. John Cusson says it was from the Chuck Norris movie, The Octagon. Who knows what’s true or not. My guess is it was all of these people contributing at different times.

There will be new videos each week as part of the Anniversary celebration. I’m looking forward to what’s next.

Preview of UFC25Years which is set to debut on Fight Pass in August

UFC25Years

It’s hard to believe that the UFC has been around a quarter of a century.

From Royce Gracie introducing the world to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to Brock Lesnar spitting into cameras and pushing Daniel Cormier, it’s been a long strange trip for the UFC. There have been moments over the course of those 25 years that are forever etched into my memories. The early UFC events that seemed lawless and so violent. Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar putting the sport on the map in fifteen minutes of not to be believed action. Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock at UFC 40. Daniel Cormier becoming the Champ-Champ. Ronda Rousey’s knockout loss to Holly Holm. These are the things that make UFC25Years unbelievable.

The UFC as you might expect is celebrating their 25th Anniversary in style. In August they are releasing the first in a series of short videos covering 25 moments in their amazing history. Imagine 25 short 30 for 30 episodes all about the history of the UFC.  They posted a small teaser via Twitter and we’re sharing it with you. So get hyped and think about the moments that that will endure for a lifetime.

Chuck and Tito have a face off in front of UFC promotional material?

Chuck and Tito

I’m not sure Dana White would appreciate this at all.

We’ve reported the news that Chuck and Tito are set to meet for a third time under the Golden Boy MMA banner. That said, they choose an interesting place to have a very public faceoff today. They posed in front of the UFC 25 years promotional material. It seems a bit odd that the UFC would allow them an opportunity to promote on their turf. Also, Tito Ortiz thanked Forrest Griffin for a tour of the UFC Performance Center today. Strange things are afoot.

Shaheen Al-Shatti of MMA Fighting posted a video of the seemingly impromptu faceoff.

Here’s the post earlier about Tito saying how cool the UFC Performance Center is and thanking Forrest Griffin for the tour.

I’m telling you, something is up!
