UFC 231 The Thrill and the Agony Preview. The Main and Co-Main Events

thrill-agony-preview-main-events

The UFC has put up another ‘The Thrill and The Agony’ video to Fight Pass and gave us a sneak peek into the meat and potatoes of it. It follows the UFC 231 main event of Max Holloway vs Brian Ortega and Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event.

The video, of course, stays true to its name. The range of emotions were especially high because two titles were on the line. After weeks of preparation, there were winners and there were losers, but all the fighters emptied the tank after giving everything they had.

You never want to see the losing side, especially when it is in regards to someone that is as good of a dude as Ortega. Seeing his family in tears is actually gut-wrenching. On the flip side of the coin, seeing Max Holloway’s family experiencing euphoria is just too damn cool.

‘The Thrill and The Agony’ is the perfect title.

Joanna vs Valentina set for December to crown a new flyweight queen

Joanna-Valentina-December-crown-queen

After Nicco Montano failed to defend her title against Valentina Shevchenko a couple of weeks ago, the UFC was fed up and stripped her immediately. With the title vacated, The UFC needed to find themselves a new flyweight champion. They announced both fighters vying for the featherweight crown and when it’s going down.

The UFC tweeted out the matchup and also announced it on their official site.

“A new UFC women’s flyweight champion will be crowned on December 8, as former strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk faces off with Valentina Shevchenko for the vacant title at UFC 231 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

UFC 231 airs live on Pay-Per-View from the Scotiabank Arena.”

Shevchenko will move down in weight, as Joanna moves up. The two women have met before in kickboxing and Shevchenko beat Joanna all three times. Now, they will meet in the cage and run it back for a fourth time.

Stay healthy, ladies.

media-montano-shevchenko-woodley-till

The UFC hosted a media conference call with Tyron Woodley, Darren Till, Nicco Montano, and Valentina Shevchenko on Thursday, August 30. The event takes place next week on September 8 in Dallas, Texas.

The main event will see the return of UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, and he’ll be taking on number one contender, Darren Till. The co-main event features the women’s flyweight championship between Nicco Montano and Valentina Shevchenko.

All four fighters phoned in and fielded questions. First up were Valentina and Nicco who were of course pleasant and accomodating. Then, Woodley and Till joined in. Shockingly, both were very subdued. There was not much arguing and both were complimentary to one another.
