Thiago Alves is out of UFC Fight Night 116 **Replacement Found**
Thiago Alves is off of Fight Night 116
Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night 116 card took a major hit as co-main eventer Thiago Alves was forced off the card for undisclosed reasons. MMA Junkie was the first to report the news, that has since been confirmed elsewhere. A replacement for Mike Perry is being sought, but at this close date could be an uphill battle. Someone call Gerald Harris. It has been rumored that Alves was having some travel issues, but it’s not clear what is keeping him from fighting Saturday.
In 2017, there have been close to a dozen main events or c0-main events that have seen this happen. Fights are never a sure thing until both fighters are locked in the cage.
The UFC has found a replacement fighter for Mike Perry. His name is Alex Reyes and he’ll be making his UFC debut on 3 days notice. What Reyes has going for him, however, is he’s won 13 consecutive fights, all by stoppage. It’s still a very tall task to go one on one with Mike Perry on this short notice. Props for taking the fight.
