Tony Ferguson injured, out of UFC 223 fight. Max Holloway to the rescue!
Dana White said Max Holloway will face Khabib for the lightweight title
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. The fight between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov is OFF! Yep, it’s happened yet again. Reports are that Tony Ferguson injured his knee and has been stripped of his interim title. In fact, current Featherweight champion Max Holloway will step in and face Khabib Nurmagomedov, with the winner walking away as the undisputed Lightweight champion!
This is the fourth or fifth time they’ve tried to put this fight together, and it just seems destined to never take place. Max Holloway is an absolute stud to step up and take this fight. He’s a killer at 145, but he is going to face and a size and strength disadvantage against Khabib. I can’t wait to see it. I am more into this fight than I was the original.
Dana White took to Instagram to report the news, and since that time it’s been backed up by numerous sources. Many felt it was an April Fools Joke, but it’s not. Crazy enough the fight they’ve tried to put together time and time again, appears cursed. Dana White has been quoted as saying “Hell No!” he will not attempt to put it together yet again. This ship has seemingly sailed.
