It wasn’t long ago that ‘Towelgate’ happened in NYC. Daniel Cormier stepped on the scale and made weight by using the towel to help him weigh less. Just a few months later and another fighter tried to manipulate the system. Sergio DaSilva did everything but try to levitate to make weight for his Bellator fight tomorrow.
It looks like the NYSAC learned its lesson from “Towelgate.” Check this out from today’s Bellator 180 weigh-ins: https://t.co/IBvAEHUZ5Q pic.twitter.com/q6C6Jl0svH

He tried stepping to the left, putting his foot on the floor, use half of his foot on the scale… EVERYTHING within the realm of possibility, he tried. After Daniel Cormier successfully snuck around the rules, the commission received a LOT of flack for it. They wouldn’t be made a fool of again.
Ultimately, DaSilva missed weight. The good news is, he has a fantastic sense of humor.
D.C. Made me do it…..
