Transgender wrestler wins Texas state girl’s wrestling championship.

17 year old transgender wrestler, Mack Beggs won the Texas state girls’ wrestling title on Saturday. Beggs was born female and has been transitioning to male, since 2015. Part of that transition consists of taking testosterone. The testosterone use has been drawing the most attention from critics via social media.

The University Interscholastic League (UIL), enacted the birth certificate policy this past August. Basically what that means, is you have to compete against the gender that parallels yours, on your birth certificate.

While Beggs’ family claimed that Mack wanted to compete against boys, the UIL rules prevented it. So, the options were to wrestle girls or not compete. Obviously, Mack took part in the competition.

The transgender teen went 56-0 for the season.
