We are now just two days away from UFC 207 on December 30th and news just broke that this may very well be Mike Goldberg’s last event. It was first reported on EntimSports.com and later confirmed by MMAFighting.com‘s Luke Thomas. No word yet from the UFC or Goldberg, but it was reported earlier this year that Goldberg may be on his way out as commentator.
Chael Sonnen recently made waves on his podcast by suggesting that Jim Rome was set to replace Goldberg in the booth. Currently, it looks as if the twittersphere is hoping that veteran MMA announcer and current WWE announcer Mauro Ranallo will take Goldberg’s seat.
Goldberg began his UFC commentating career in 1997, marking 20 years in the business. His wikipedia page has been updated already to reflect UFC 207 being his last time to call action from the octagon. Stay tuned for further news as it becomes available.
If this is true, MikeSwick.com would like wish the best for Mike in his future, as he is one of the best in the sport!
**UPDATE** Dana White has confirmed today that UFC 207 will indeed be Mike Goldberg’s last event.
