UFC 207 does over a million buys on pay-per-view

Early estimates are in and the UFC ended the year on a high note as UFC 207 looks to have brought in 1.1 million pay-per-view buys. This marks the 2nd million-buy event for Rousey as her previous bout with Holly Holm drew roughly the same number.

That makes an astonishing 5 pay-per-view events that crossed the million buy mark this year. While Conor McGregor is still cemented as the PPV king when it comes to the UFC, with 4 events topping a million buys so far in his career, Ronda proved to be every bit a draw still. A win would have no doubt led to more big PPV numbers for the former bantamweight champion but alas that was not the case.

The UFC’s big 5 on PPV this year:

  • UFC 202 Diaz-McGregor 2 – 1,500,000
  • UFC 196 Diaz-McGregor – 1,317,000
  • UFC 205 Alvarez-McGregor – 1,300,000
  • UFC 207 Rouse-Nunes – 1,100,000
  • UFC 200 Tate-Nunes – 1,009,000

2017 could be a very different year for the UFC. Given that he doesn’t yet have a fight scheduled it probably won’t be another 3-fight year for McGregor. It is all but assumed that we won’t be seeing Ronda this year. Nate Diaz isn’t answering the phone for less than $20 million. So we will have to wait and see what the year brings.

It is still too early in the year, however, to start any speculation. But cheers to another successful event for the UFC and for mixed martial arts as a whole.
