UFC announces major heavyweight clash at UFC 218

There are some rumored fights for the card, but the UFC has announced this as official.

UFC 218 in Detroit is starting to come together. There have been rumors circulating about some possible fights on the card like Justin Gaethje facing Eddie Alvarez, Max Holloway taking on Frankie Edgar but we can announce one fight that’s signed. The UFC announced a heavyweight battle between Alistair Overeem and Francis NGannou.

Alistair Overeem (43-15) is currently the number one ranked UFC heavyweight. He’s been doing quite well lately. He’s won 6 out of 7 of his last fights. His lone defeat came at the hands of current champion Stipe Miocic.  He’s certainly thinking a win here over NGannou gets him a rematch with Stipe for the title.

Francis NGannou (10-1) is undefeated in his five UFC fights. In his last outing, he stopped Andrei Arlovski in the first round by TKO. He’s a big, heavy-handed puncher who will be looking to find himself in a cage with Stipe with a win. In his five UFC wins, he’s never gone the distance. That said, in his ten professional victories, he won all ten by stoppage.

These two will meet and the only sure thing is, we won’t need the judges.
