While we all appreciate the high definition video showing Conor McGregor acting like an unhinged lunatic, I’m not sure the UFC is sending the best message to their fans. Since the incident, Dana White has claimed that this melee was the worst thing he’s ever seen in the history of the UFC. While it is up for debate, I’m not sure that glorifying it is the right call.
When fans jump on the field during an NFL game, cameras ALWAYS cut away. Usually, you have to go to an outside source to see the extracurriculars that took place during a game. They don’t put together video packages of dirty plays to hype the game.
After all of the mess that Conor and friends caused, the part that strikes me as the most telling is when they are done. Conor runs away laughing and screaming; Clearly proud of what he had just done.
While bringing more attention to this ridiculous act may not be the right call, the video has 2.4 million views in 19 hours. So maybe it is the right call.
I feel like a child whose parents are going through a bitter divorce. I don’t know what to think.
