UFC Halifax finds its new main event

UFC Fight Night Halifax recently took a big seven-foot hit when Stefan Struve was pulled from the card due to a shoulder injury and Junior dos Santos was subsequently pulled as well with no opponent stepping up.

The event went a little over a week without a main event but that just changed a few moments ago. It was announced that Travis Browne versus Derrick Lewis, which was slated for UFC 208 in Brooklyn, has been shifted a week and will serve as the UFC Halifax main event.

This fight will be particularly interesting in that it will be Browne’s first fight after leaving coach Edmund Taverdyan and the Glendale Fight Club for Black House.

Also made official today for the same event is the previously talked about bout between Johny Hendricks and Hector Lombard, marking Hendricks’ middleweight debut.

Here is the announced fight card so far:

Derrick Lewis (17-4) vs. Travis Browne (18-5-1)
Hector Lombard (35-6) vs. Johny Hendricks (17-6)
Elias Theodorou (12-1) vs. Cezar Ferreira (12-5)
Thiago Santos (13-5) vs. Jack Marshman (21-5)
Alessandro Ricci (10-4) vs. Alvaro Herrera (9-4)
Santiago Ponzinibbio (24-3) vs. Nordine Taleb (11-3)
Reginaldo Vieira (14-4) vs. Aiemann Zahabi (6-0)
Carla Esparza (11-3) vs. Randa Markos (6-4)

UFC Fight Night Halifax takes place on Sunday February 19th, and airs live on FS1.
