When the UFC makes their Moscow debut, Mark Hunt, and Aleksei Oleinik will headline
The UFC will hold their first event in Moscow, Russia on September 15th, and Mark Hunt has been tabbed to be in the main event. He will face Aleksei Oleinik in the feature bout of a card that currently has four bouts attributed to it. The original plan was for Oleinik to take on Fabricio Werdum but Werdum has run afoul with USADA and that fight was scrapped.
Mark Hunt (13-12) enters this fight 1-2 in his last three. In his last fight, he was bested by Curtis Blaydes despite nearly finishing Blaydes early. Hunt a popular heavyweight who is known for his walk-off knockouts. He’ll be looking for another one in Russia in September. Chances are he’ll be a substantial underdog heading into the fight.
Aleksei Oleinik (56-11) has a wealth of experience. He’s won fourteen of his last sixteen and defeated Junior Albibi in his last trip to the Octagon. Aleksei possesses perhaps the tightest squeeze in MMA. If he can catch your head in any number of positions, he has the raw power to submit you. This guy wants to squeeze your neck, so don’t give it to him.
Joining these two on the card are three other fights currently booked. They are as follows.
Andrei Arlovski vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov
Merab Dvalishvili vs. Terrion Ware
Omari Akhmedov vs. C.B. Dollaway
The event is September 15th and will take place at the Olimpiyskiy Arena.
