There have been rumblings on the MMA newswire that the UFC are trying to put together a fight between Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman at UFC 230 in New York. Chris Weidman went on Ariel Helwani’s show today and said that fight is getting one step closer to fruition. Weidman revealed that he signed a bout agreement that would put the two middleweight superstars across the cage from each other once again.
Rockhold and Weidman first fought at UFC 194 where Rockhold took the title from Weidman in a fourth-round TKO victory. Since that time, both fighters have found more defeat than success.
Rockhold lost the middleweight title to Michael Bisping, then beat David Branch, and lost his last fight to Yoel Romero. Weidman went on a two-fight losing skid against Yoel Romero and Gegard Mousasi, then won his last fight against top contender, Kelvin Gastelum.
Hopefully, all parties sign contracts and we get this fight confirmed soon.
