WSOF NYC draws huge ratings on New Year’s Eve

The World Series of Fighting’s 4-title fight megacard on New Year’s Eve drew record ratings for the promotion. Taking place in front of a sold out crowd at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, WSOFNYC drew an average of 951,000 viewers on NBC, peaking at 1.3 million during the main event between Justin Gaethje and Luiz Firmino.

This is a massive ratings win for the World Series of Fighting, especially when you consider the fact that it was up against the college football playoff game between Alabama and Washington, and New Year’s Eve festivities.

The commentary was anchored by MMA legends Bas Rutten and Renzo Gracie, along with feature commentary from 2x Olympic gold medalist in Judo, Kayla Harrison.

WSOF president Ray Sefo could not have been happier with how the event turned out. “It was a great night of fights we had to finish off 2016. Seeing all the fans come out to pack the house was great and I know I appreciate all of them and I’m sure the fighters do as well,” said Sefo. “I can’t wait to get back to work to bring more big MMA shows to our fans in 2017.”
