Renzo Gracie and Kayla Harrison

Yesterday a number of the fighters in the 4 title fights descended upon Renzo Gracie Academy just a few blocks from the Theater at Madison Square Garden where the event takes place. The man himself and commentator of the WSOF telecast, Renzo Gracie, stopped by for a bit to get a look at the fighters. Two-time olympic gold medalist in Judo, Kayla Harrison, also stopped by to get a look at the action.

Bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes, lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, and welterweight champion Jon Fitch put on a nice display as media and fans looked on. Joining them in the open workout were title challengers Jake Shields (welterweight) and Josinaldo Silva (bantamweight).

Marlon Moraes

The welterweight title match between champion Jon Fitch and challenger Jake Shields is one of the more talked about fights on the card as it pits two of the promotions more veterans against one another. Both Shields and Fitch have fought a who’s who of the welterweight division over the course of their careers and a win for either would be a huge notch on their belt.

This is a big week for WSOF and this was the first big event of fight week and it didn’t disappoint. With so many other names like Rolles Gracie, John Danaher, and WSOF president Ray Sefo stopping by for a peek of the action, it’s no doubt that the World Series of Fighting is buzzing in the city heading into New Year’s Eve.

That buzz continued today as the WSOF and the 8 fighters from the 4 title fights on the main card were at Madison Square Garden for a press conference. The place was jam packed with media and fans, proving that World Series of Fighting is definitely on people’s minds in and around the city.

As for the champions and contenders, they weren’t short on verbal jabs and predictions. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:
