What a rollercoaster ride it has been for Yair Rodriguez. First, he was matched up with Zabit Magomedsharipov. He chose not to fight, so the UFC fired him. Then, the UFC rehired him and scheduled him to fight Zabit again. All seemed fine. However, in the world of MMA, it never is.
Reports have come in that Rodriguez pulled out of his scheduled UFC 228 fight with Zabit due to injury. This is just par for the course in MMA today. There’s a lot of drama around a big fight being made and when it is, somehow the fight falls through. Every time.
While the UFC has not confirmed this news, MMAJunkie has reported this to be fact.
Zabit took to his Twitter and while disappointed, he still wants a piece of Rodriguez in the near future.
@panteraufc if you injured or not im fighting regardless so get your mind prepared for a battle. Im going to fight someone in September and I will fight you in November or December. No more running @seanshelby @danawhite
